2009 LOGANVILLE RED DEVIL CHEERLEADING
Information and Regulations |
|
| Cheerleading is an activity designed to complement the football program. It is also a sport in itself, and it is hard work! We cheer when the weather is hot; we cheer when it is cold. The boys play in the rain, and the girls are expected to cheer. We cheer whether our team is winning or losing. We cheer our team on; we do not put the other team down. We exercise good sportsmanship at all times. We practice on a regular basis to continually improve our performance, just as the football teams do. We expect each of the girls to participate in conditioning exercises designed to increase strength and flexibility and to help prevent injury. |
| Please read carefully the regulations listed below. If you or your child will not be able tocomply, please donot sign up. Instead leave space on the squad for someone who can. |
|
| REGISTRATION: According to the rules of the Gwinnett Football League (GFL), of which Loganville is a member association, registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. There are no tryouts, and there are no squad size limits, which often results in large squads. The GFL registers participants by grade rather than age. Your daughter will be assigned to a squad based on what grade she will be entering in the fall of 2009. There will be absolutely no exceptions to this rule! No one will be added to a squad after the uniform fitting date. |
| SPLIT TEAMS: If a football team registers enough players to split into two or more teams, the cheerleaders for that age group will be drafted onto separate squads according to their experience and skill level; said draft being supervised by the Director of Cheerleading. The evaluation will take place on July 23rd. Girls not attending the evaluation will have their names drawn from a hat. The only guarantee of placement is to keep siblings of the same age together. All others will all as they may. If it becomes necessary to split a squad, you will be given details as the time gets closer. The results of the split are final; no one will be moved to another squad. |
ATTENDANCE: Each cheerleader is expected to attend all regularly scheduled practices beginning July 27th. We make every effort to work around PTO nights and special programs because we feel that school comes first. The coaches will work with you in these cases. (Skate night is NOT an excused absence.) Girls who are absent miss new material and may be required to sit out part of that week's game, at the coach's discretion. If absenteeism becomes excessive, the girl may lose her place on the squad. Chronic lateness will be treated as absenteeism. Being late constantly is a sign of disrespect for the coach and is not fair to all the girls who are on time. The whole squad cannot wait on one or two people.
If your football team makes the playoffs, your squad could possibly be cheering into mid-November, so please take this into consideration when making plans! Playoff participation will be considered mandatory for the cheerleaders and will count towards perfect attendance.
Please be advised that birthday parties, movies, camp, sleepovers, going to the mall, dance lessons, baton lessons, gymnastics classes, clogging lessons, trips out of town, etc. should be scheduled so that they do not conflict with cheerleading practice or games. Cheerleading is a team sport and we need every girl to be at every practice and every game! |
